Motorola RAZR Black debuts in US
Motorola RAZR Black is not just for Hollywood chic any more; retail sales of the sleek handset has opened

5 July, 2005: Motorola RAZR Black, which made its appearance earlier this year with Hollywood celebrities being presented with the sleek handset, has made its way to the retail market. Starting July 1, 2005, Motorola has started selling the Motorola RAZR Black to the US public. The price is $199.99, with a a two-year contract. Cingular, the largest wireless services provider in the US provides the services.
Motorola RAZR Black is offered as the sequel to the original Motorola RAZR. At the 77th Annual Academy Awards®, all directing and acting nominees, including Hilary Swank, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Foxx and Clint Eastwood, had received the super-sleek Motorola RAZR Black.
Armed with a VGA camera, the Motorola RAZR Black makes use of Cingular’s MEdia services including Cingular Sounds and Picture Messaging, enabling users to conveniently share pictures taken with the phone and download music. Subscribers of Cingular can take advantage of these MEdia services and can sign-up for cost-effective MEdia bundle – a package which includes Text, Instant and Picture Messaging besides MEdia Net.
The material used to build Motorola RAZR Black include aircraft-grade aluminum, magnesium and nickel-plated copper alloy metals. Video playback and integrated Bluetooth® wireless technology are standad with the Motorola RAZR Black.
The product will be made available to Cingular’s 2,600 company-owned stores, besides Cingular’s distribution points including agent locations, national retail locations and cingular.com.
Cingular Wireless customers will also be able to personalize their Motorola RAZR Black. Cingular will engrave the battery door of the phone and ship it to the chosen address within 4-6 weeks charging $19.99 for shipping and handling. As of now, engraving is only for 20 characters and is only for the RAZR Black. The silver RAZR engraving option will be available next month. In a few weeks, Cingular customers will be able to visit www.cingular.com to place an order, or they can visit a store location where a Cingular representative can assist them in placing an order from the Web site.
