Some photos and details of the Droid 2 have been leaked. From the photos, it looks like Motorola has decided to continue the industrial good-looks of their favourite phone.

This is too early to discuss pricing of the Motorola Droid 2 – but we know from recent smartphones that no one would price their phones above the iPhone 4S. That is the smartphone sweetspot in the US market, anyway.

In the past, we saw Motorola launching its new handsets one after the other. First we saw the release of Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless, which shipped on November 6th 2009 and featured Android 2.1, a slideout QWERTY keyboard, a 600MHz processor, 5 MP digital camera, microSD slot and everything else you would expect from a modern smart phone.

Next, we saw the launch of Motorola Droid X, which hit Verizon Wireless on the 15th of this month and featured a large 4.3-inch touch screen, a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, Android 2.1 and a 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash.
So, the question in everyone’s mind is – what’s next for Motorola? The company certainly isn’t going to abandon Android anytime soon considering that the success of this platform has been immense.

The next device from the company is is rumoured to be the Motorola Droid 2.

Having seen all the new releases from Motorola, we can judge that Motorola really means business with high powered mobile handset manufacturers such as HTC and Apple.

After witnessing numerous leaks of its previous phone releases, Motorola has evidently been trying to keep its new release under wraps. But images of Droid 2 were leaked and appeared on several websites and blogs recently. According to the leaked information, the Motorola Droid 2 handset will feature a 5 mega pixel camera, an 8GB memory card pre-installed on the device, EV-DO Rev A support, a 1GHz processor, and 512MB RAM. Naturally, Google Maps will be included, as well as the ability to function as a 3G hotspot.
It is believed that that the Motorola Droid 2 will be launched soon this summer. So, for all Droid fans, they can check out this new version of Droid soon in the market.
