The phone does not have as many features as the Motorola Droid Android phone. It is more of a low-end version of the Droid and is more oriented toward social networking.

It features the MOTOBLUR customized user interface and functionality like the Motorola CLIQ, which was the first Motorola phone to come with MOTOBLUR.

With MOTOBLUR, users can customise their home screen using midgets that stream updates to the home screen.

MOTOBLUR also eliminates the need to open multiple apps to access latest information about contacts, as its messages widget streams updates to posts, messages, photos from emails, Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace to the home screen.

According to Boy Genius Report, the Motorola Calgary will have a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, three touch-sensitive Android buttons, 3-megapixel camera, an optical pad, and 3.5-mm jack.

Other specs include Wi-fi, GPS, compass, and microSD card slot.

The phone is likely to be launched in the end of 2009, after the launch of the Motorola Droid, which is expected to hit US markets on October 30, 2009.

The Motorola Droid Android phone is a joint effort by Motorola, Verizon, and Google.

Specifications of the Motorola Droid include a high-resolution capacitive display screen, QWERTY keyboard, 5.0-mega pixel camera, speech recognition, 10000+ applications, hi-resolution, notification panel, directions, video, and tunes.

The phone is powered by a TI OMAP3430 processor and runs Android v 2.0.

Rumors about the Motorola Calgary first surfaced in December 2008.

Then, BGR had carried renderings of Motorola’s 2009 line-up for Verizon, which included the Motorola Calgary, Flash, Rush 2 and Inferno.
