Motorola Barrage rugged phone launched
Motorola has launched its ultra rugged, outdoorsy phone, the Motorola Barrage, via Verizon, on October 1, 2009.

The Motorola Barrage clamshell phone has a 2.2-inch, 65K color TFT display with 176 x 220 resolution.
It measures 96 x 53 x 24mm and weighs 119g.
The Motorola Barrage lays claim to some impressive military certification features. It promises military strength protection from rain, humidity, fluctuating temperatures, solar radiation, dust, salt fog, altitude, shock, vibration and transit drop.
The Motorola Barrage can be submerged in up to one metre of water for up to 30 minutes with no adverse effects.
The phone comes with a built-in 2-megapixel camera and camcorder.
The Motorola Barrage comes with Verizon Wireless’ Push to Talk service that leverages the company’s Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network to provide customers with fast two-way communication to get their jobs done efficiently.
Other features include support for MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA audio file formats, a headphone jack, stereo Bluetooth 2.1, and integrated GPS.
Also on offer are Verizon Wireless services, such as VZ NavigatorSM, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and V CAST Video on Demand.
The Motorola Barrage that comes with an 1170 mAH battery for extended talk time.
The Motorola Barrage will be available from Verizon’s online portal and its business sales channels, for $130 after a $50 mail in rebate and 2-year contract. The Motorola Barrage will go on sale in stores on November 16, 2009.
Meanwhile, along with the announcement of the Motorola Barrage, Verizon also announced the launch of the HTC Imagio, its first Windows Mobile 6.5 device.
The HTC Imagio will be available online for $199.99 on a two-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate.
