Mio A710 GPRS enabled Windows mobile based smart phone

29 August, 2005: Mio will preview its first GPS-enabled Windows Mobile-based smart phone A701, it has been learned.
Since the phone has not yet been released, only the assumptions are given in this article. The model is based on a 520MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor backed by 192MB of memory, of which 64 MB may be ROM. The phone runs Windows Mobile 5, aka 'Magneto'.
The display is of 2.7 inch and the resolution can be of 640 x 480. The stylish candybar handset A701, is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera. The mobile phone has a virtual, on-screen pad with no key-board. It supports tri-band GSM with GPRS and Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity. For further memory expansion, there is a SD/MMC slot on the side.
It has been learnt that the A701 uses the SirfStar III chipset and the GPS receiver is integrated within the body of the device.
The A701 phone comes with PDA functionality. The A201 is
also believed to form the basis for an upcoming Medion-branded device, the MDPNA 1500.
So far details about pricing are not available.
