Micromax has announced yet another touchscreen mobile phone – the X550 QUBE – this time with a 3D Cube user interface. The phone operates on a GSM/GPRS 900/1800 MHz band. It is expected to be priced at approximately Rs.5,000.
The Micromax X550 QUBE is a candybar phone and sports a 3.2-inch TFT screen (240x 400 pixel resolution). As the name suggests, the new 3D Qube user interface on the device forms a cube shape with sides rotating into place as you swipe the screen.
Weighing 85 grams, the Micromax X550 QUBE is 112.5 x 55.9 x 14.1 mm in size.
Like most of the company’s other recent offerings, the Micromax X550 QUBE comes with dual SIM slots.
Other technical specifications of the Micromax X550 QUBE include a multi-format music player, an FM radio and a video player (supports AVI/3GP/MP4 formats).
The Micromax X550 QUBE provides Bluetooth (A2DP), EDGE, WAP and email support. The device comes equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and is Java enabled. There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack for attaching a handsfree kit.
Micromax has packed customizable widgets and touch sensitive wallpapers into the X550 QUBE. The handset also offers connectivity to social networking applications, such as Nimbuzz, Facebook and Twitter (through Snaptu).
The Micromax X550 QUBE has an in-built Opera Mini browser for browsing the Internet on the handset.
The memory on the Micromax X550 QUBE is expandable up to 16 GB via microSD card slot. The in-built storage offers support for 1000 phonebook entries and 500 SMSs.
The Micromax X550 QUBE’s Li-ion 1200mAh battery promises a talk time of up to 8 hours. Users can expect a standby time of up to 6 days.
