LG Viewty Smart GC900 set for Europe launch

Korean phone maker LG Electronics has announced that it will launch its LG Viewty Smart, or LG GC900, in Europe, by May 2009.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 succeeds the first LG Viewty cell phone, which sold in more than 6.5 million units.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 comes with a high resolution (800×480 pixels) WVGA touch screen, a more intelligent image processor than its predecessor, and its easy-to-use S-Class User Interface.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 has a 8-mega pixel camera feature that comes with
the multi-face detection technology Beauty Shot, Touch Shot, Continuous Shot, Panorama Shot, Art Shot, DVD-quality D1 video recording, and LED flash.

The phone is equipped with a new Intelligent Shot Mode feature that powered by the new image processor that promises to take better pictures by analyzing image data and comparing it to that of optimal images.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 allows web access via HSDPA 3G connection with a browsing speed up to 7.2 Mbps and also supports Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS with geotagging, Bluetooth 2 and quad-band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) connectivity.

Users can browse the web and upload files on social networking websites of their choice.

The phone is considerably slim given the features it has to offer, measuring 12.4mm in depth and weighing a mere 90 grams. The cell phone comes in

with a 1.5 GB internal memory but can be expanded up to a whopping 32 GB via the Micro SD card slot available.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 also includes multimedia features like a music player and DivX/XviD/MPEG4 player.

“With Viewty we completely changed the way people looked at camera phones. For the first time, people didn’t have to put up with poor image quality for the

convenience of using the cameras on their mobile phones,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“With Viewty Smart we’ll change perceptions again. It won’t be about having a camera phone that equals the quality of a standalone digital camera. It will be about

having a smart camera phone that takes better pictures and is easier to use than a standalone digital camera.” he added.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 phone will be unveiled in the European market in May 2009, and in the US via Orange.

Price details of the LG Viewty Smart GC900 are yet to be revealed.
