LG Optimus 2X Europe launch in January 2011

LG has announced that the Optimus 2X handset will arrive in and Europe in January, followed by Korea and the US. There is no word on India launch but given Samsung’s Galaxy S success, LG wouldn’t want to wait too long.

The Optimus 2X is the flagship handset from LG. It will feature 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and run on Android OS. The Tegra 2 processor makes for faster, smoother web browsing and applications and lets users multitask with virtually no screen lag. Moreover, the phone both plays as well as record 1080p video.

The LG Optimus 2X features a 4-inch WVGA display, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. In addition, it comes with an 8 mega pixel back-facing camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera. It also comes equipped with 1500mAh battery. Related: Android smartphones in India.

The Optimus 2X can connect wirelessly to any DLNA compatible digital device such as HD TVs. Users can enjoy console-like gaming experience taking full advantage of the phone’s HDMI mirroring, accelerometer and gyro sensor. Moreover, the phone supports 2G and 3G network. For connectivity, it supports GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP. For music lovers, has MP3 and MP4. It also comes with document viewer and organizer.

Earlier, LG had announced that world-renown movie soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone will create exclusive music and ringtones for its handsets. Now we know that the Optimus 2X will be the first handset to get those ringtones and music. The first-of-its-kind collaboration will include Morricone’s existing Cinema Paradiso, The Mission and Love Affair, as well as some newly created content. Altogether, there will be 15 original ringtones and 10 existing musical tracks from movies.
