LG introduces MM-535 mobile phone

August 29, 2005: LG has launched its new multimedia enabled smartphone MM-535, with a standard telephone keypad. The new MM-535 comes with a front that slides up to reveal the otherwise-hidden telephone keypad.

The dimensions of LG MM-535 are 1.89 x 0.98 x 3.93 inches and weighs 3.88 ounces. A messaging phone, the MM-535 provides T9 predictive input technology for instant messaging. The phone has 1.6-inch color screen, 20 MB of internal memory and a SecureDigital card slot for accommodating additional file storage.

LG's new smartphone comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera that can capture still images at resolutions up to 1,280 x 960 pixels.The camera can be used to capture 15 second video clips and has features like flash, 20x digital zoom and a self-timer, together with controls for adjusting white balance, brightness and color tone. 

A five-way navigation control underneath the TFT screen can be customized to launch the handset's Web browser as well as other frequently used functions.The triband MM-535 has speaker phone, voice activated dialling, a phone book which can store 250 entries, 500 e-mails and web-addresses and a built-in-voice recorder which can capture up to 30 memos with an aggregate duration of three minutes.

Using the phone's speed dialling feature, 99 numbers can be stored in the phone to make contacting colleagues and friends easy by pressing just one or two buttons. 

The MM-535 is capable of data speeds of 50 to 70 Kbps by way of Sprint's Latest News about Sprint 1xRTT service. The backlit buttons gives the option of selecting just how long the display screen and keypad will stay lit after any key press is made.

Using the "airplane mode" function, the user can restrict the calls and mails on those places where the use of mobiles are prohibited.

The phone does not offer suport for traditional POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail. The phone does not have Bluetooth technology or Infra red feature, thus making it virtually impossible for users to transfer their files from the phone to a computer. A memory card can be used to swap data between the MM-535 and other devices equipped with a similar card slot.

The LG MM-535 comes at an approximate price of $204.99 after rebate.
