I am a proud, if sad, owner of an HTC HD2. Soon, some of you will be proud, sad, owners of the LG Fathom VS750.
What would unite us is Windows Mobile. Ye,s the LG Fathom is a Windows mobile phone. As we know, Microsoft has decided to put almost all its eggs in the Windows Phone 7 basket, and the future of Windows Mobile 6.5.3 (the latest version) is a bit unclear. Sure, my HD2 meets all my requirements, but feeling a bit wistful about the constantly evolving iPhone OS and Google Android (whose latest 2.2. Froyo is generally well-liked) is natural. If you buy an LG Fathom, you will be in the same boat as me.
But if you are OK with that – like living with a partner who is slipping away to Alzheimer’s – there is much to like.
For one, the Fathom would have a 1 GHz processor (possibly SnapDragon), a 3.2 inch, 800 x 480 pixel full touch screen and a slide-out keyboard. Oh, the touchscreen is resistive – that explains the super cheap price of $ 99.99 for the Fathom on Best Buy. You get WIFi, Bluetooth, 3G, a microSD card of unspecified capacity and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
The LG Fathom VS750 would be available starting next week.
