A leaked photo of the LG C900 Windows Phone 7 has brought the touchscreen device bang into the limelight.

The new device is rumored to be out this November on the AT&T network, close to the launch of the Samsung Cetus i917 (but that’s another story). The LG C900 will likely be available at the official launch of Windows Phone 7 as a launch product.
Though the choice of carrier is no surprise (AT&T is the preferred carrier of WP7 in the US), it is a pleasant revelation to see the LG C900’s slider design with a landscape-oriented keyboard, as Windows phone 7 devices rarely step away from their tablet form factor.
Engadget reports that the leaked photo of the LG C900 shows a plastic, matte body with a large screen (most likely a 480 x 800 WVGA capacitive touchscreen) and three standard buttons below – one dedicated hard Windows button and two sensitive navigation controls. The phone slides open to reveal a 4-row QWERTY keyboard.
Rumors predict the LG C900 will carry at least a 5-megapixel camera with a flash and will come with a storage capacity of a minimum 8 GB and 256 MB RAM. There are also rumors of the device being powered by a processor of at least 800 Mhz. Windows Phone 7 specifications insist that the phones should have a 1 GHz processor, so there is a chance that this is incorrect.

Being a Windows Phone 7 device, the LG C900 is likely to be equipped with a GPS receiver, an accelerometer, a microSD card slot, a compass, a proximity sensor and an FM radio. It is also expected to be HSDPS compatible and will offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
There is no confirmed list of technical specifications for the LG C900 and the listed features are all guesswork based on the fact that the phone will run on the Windows 7 OS, which has its own stringent hardware standards. A point to note, however, is that the new Windows Phone 7 OS will have a brand new interface and will not offer support for applications designed for its predecessors. It will also not offer any option for users of earlier versions to upgrade to Windows Phone 7. Both the new and earlier versions will provide Microsoft Office Mobile and support for synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange, but Windows 7 will be focused on single-touch social networking, gaming and multimedia applications.
There is no news of the pricing for the LG C900 though is it anticipated to be a mid-range smartphone.
