LG BL40 Chocolate smartphone details revealed

Some new technical details and specifications of the LG BL40 Chocolate smartphone have surfaced on the internet.

In mid-July 2009, photos of the LG Chocolate Phone, the LG BL40 Chocolate had been leaked over the internet.

There was little information available about the phone at that time.

The LG BL40 Chocolate is the fourth in LG’s Black Label series, following the LG Chocolate, Shine and Secret.

As you can see in the photos, the LG BL40 Chocolate phone has a 21:9 ultrawide 4-inch LCD display. The resolution of 800×345 pixels will be great for cinema viewing, but may not be so good for videos on applications like youtube.

Skott Ann, CEO of LG Mobile said, when the LG BL40 Chocolate phone was officially launched, “Although much of the interest seems focused on the striking shape of the phone, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use,” he said.

The LG BL40 Chocolate smartphone with with a 5-megapixel camera with Active shooting user interface and Flash. The stand-out feature of the camera is the lens that has been certified by Schneider-Kreuznach.

The phone will have a dual screen user interface that will allow users to use two screens separately, which will be overlaid over LG’s own operating platform.

The FCC approval has helped the Korean company to include an FM Transmitter, in the LG BL40 Chocolate phone. With the FM Transmitter, users will be able to play their music stored in their phones on their stereo systems.

The phone also features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity.

Unwiredview has pointed out that a 3.5mm headset jack is visible in the pictures of the LG BL40 Chocolate phone.

Details like  internal memory, processor and RAM  have not yet been revealed.

Details about the price of the LG BL40 Chocolate phone and its availability have not yet been revealed, though the phone is likely to be available in the third quarter of 2009.

It is not clear if the phone will be launched in India or not, and at what price, in the event that the LG BL40 phone is launched in the country. We think like most LG models, this too would come to India though a little bit after its introduction elsewhere. Price too would be similar to other smartphones available in India, that is between Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000.
