Lenovo launhces Y300 and Y500 notebooks

Behold! Notebooks extraordinaire from Lenovo are here. The company has launched the Lenovo 3000
Y300 and Y500 notebooks which cater to the home consumer and the SOHO segment in India.
What is charming about these note books is that they incorporate Lenovo's biometric face recognition
technology that enhances data security and allows the notebooks to be used by multiple users seamlessly.
According to industry monitors, the Y500 also has advanced Dolby Home Theater, a Shuttle Center for easy
navigation between features, a slot-in ODD and a TV-Tuner card.
Supported by Veriface software, the notebooks boast of a technology which takes a digital snapshot of the
user, extracts key features of the user's face and creates a digital map that becomes the system's
password. This unique technology recognises multiple users and logs onto the OS without requiring users to
remember a single password. In the event of an unauthorized attempt, the notebook photographs the user
and stores the image in a log for verification.
Further, the the integrated Dolby home theater that has been incorporated lets listeners enjoy every bit of
the sound that comes out of the machine.
The other model, the Lenovo 3000 Y has incorporated a shuttle center, an integrated touch pad, a TV-tuner
card and Slot-in ODD. The Shuttle Center is an audio and video entertainment platform, which helps the
user navigate between menus without a mouse. It boasts of key features such as face recognition
technology, lightweight, widescreen and a 1.3 MP camera. Meanwhile, the Y500 has an integrated Dolby
home theater system, face recognition technology, widescreen, 1.3 MP camera and an integrated TV-tuner
card with remote control. While the Y300 is priced at Rs 61, 990, the Y500 costs between Rs. 31,990 and
Rs. 69,990.
