Jitterbug J in Red: A Samsung phone for the heart
Jitterbug J in Red, a new mobile phone from Samsung Mobile and Jitterbug Wireless of the US, will be available for sale starting this month. California-based mobile operator Jitterbug is promoting the Jitterbug J in Red in support of the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ movement.
Jitterbug is providing easy-to-use, wireless services for the Jitterbug J in Red mobile phone. The Jitterbug J is a collaborative effort to enhance awareness among women about heart diseases and it has added new wellness calls to its menu.
The Jitterbug J In Red has a customisable menu for ‘daily health tips’, which would be sent directly to the user’s phone. The patented clamshell design of Jitterbug J In Red gives the user access to a 24-hour, seven day a week LiveNurse service and also delivers healthy heart tips every day. Users also receive regularly-updated audio information library for medical advice and support.
Jitterbug collaborates with Samsung to support the American Health Association with a donation of up to $500,000 based on mobile handsets alone. Samsung displayed the Jitterbug J In Red at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010. Available in a bright red colour, the Jitterbug J In Red offers easy navigation with instant access to features. It is also padded up with Bluetooth technology.
The phone features custom texting and a handy Jitterbug library of pre-written text messages. This takes the hassle out of texting for the elderly and for users with disabilities. It has an easy-dial keypad and features a large 2.10” color screen. Lighter and thinner than its predecessors, the Jitterbug J In Red features a larger screen. A dedicated button turns on the speaker for hands-free chat using Bluetooth.
The wellness program was developed in conjunction with health experts and consumers using the program will receive a four to five minute call twice a week, which will be guided by experts.
“We continue to develop services that improve the overall well-being of our customers. We know our customers will feel great after every Wellness Call, so we are including this as a free service in most of our service plans,” David Inns, Jitterbug CEO, said.
The Jitterbug J in Red weighs4.06 oz, and has dimensions of 2.16 x 3.87 x .97 inches. The internal screen of the clamshell has a 2.1 inch size, while the external screen is 1.07 inches. The screen has a resolution of 262000 with 176 x 220 pixels. The Jitterbug J in Red internal phone book can hold up to 50 entries.
