ITG XpPhone runs Windows XP; launch soon

China’s In Technology Group (ITG) is planning to launch a mobile phone with Windows XP running on it, the ITG XpPhone, via AT&T, Vodafone and Orange.

The slide-out ITG Windows XpPhone has a QWERTY keyboard and 4.8-inch TFT touchscreen LCD display with 800×480 resolution.

The ITG Windows XpPhone runs the AMD Super Mobile processor and has 512MB/1GB RAM.

SSD options include 8GB/16GB/32GB/64GB with HDD capacities of 30GB/60GB/80GB/120GB. The company has said that the phone supports both SSD and HDD drives simultaneously to save power. It can even be used as a portable hard disk when the system shuts down.

The ITG Windows XpPhone works on GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA (HSDPA/HSUPA) and CDMA/CDMA2000 1X/CDMA1X EVDO,TD-SCDMA, TD-HSDPA.

Connectivity options of the ITG Windows XpPhone include Wi-Fi with Optional Wimax, Bluetooth, and GPS with real-time traffic support.

The ITG Windows XpPhone comes with a 1.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, USB port, and ear phone Jack.

The phone comes with a removable lithium-ion battery that it claims lasts for 7 hours with standard battery and 12 hours for large-capacity battery.

The continuous talktime of the ITG XpPhone is up to 5 hours and stand-by time of around 5 days.

The ITG Windows XpPhone weighs 400 gms with battery. It will be available in black, red, white and silver.

ITG has listed the XpPhone’s major technologies on the product page of its newly designed website.

1) Technology of awakening from standby mode: The ITG xpPhone can prompt users about incoming calls or messages even when in standby mode, reducing power consumption.

2) Mobile phone technology of laptop computer: The ITG xpPhone integrates the functions of mobile phone and laptop computer. It allows video calls and supports msn, Skype, QQ VoIP service.

3) Mirror protection technology: This technology claims to maintain the speed of the phone’s operating system at the same level when it was first installed, to keep up fast operation.

4) Display control technology: The ITG XpPhone allows users to switch between horizontal and vertical display , control resolution, font size, and zoom pictures and web pages with ease. The phone can also be connected to a projector and LCD television through VGA interface.

5) RF isolation and modularization technology: The phone enables compatibility with 2G, 3G, 4 G networks and also supports GSM, CDMA and TD network standards.

6) Safe shield technology: Provides protection against viruses and also ensures that the operating and browsing records that are generated during operations are completely erased.

7) Double-thumb input technology: The phone can increase typing speed by 3-5 times with its double-thumb input method, like PSP, and other ergonomic buttons.

ITG is taking pre-orders on its website. The price of the phone and availability details have not been revealed, though.
