iPhone Google Earth application

Google has made available its application Google Earth on the iPhone. The iPhone version of Google Earth is reported to be specially modified for the phone and is expected to exploit the phone’s functionalities to the core.

The company has also made sure that the new application supports maps of as many as 22 countries and 18 languages. This means that using an iPhone, a customer can make a virtual tour of the planet  by zooming in and tilting the device to take a closer look at the mountains and valleys of the earth. Geo-located photos and information on interesting places can be zoomed in

It is also being said that the application doesn’t have a provision that make one feature available when he is using another. While navigating across the globe the user of the Googl Earth-enables iPhone gets a compass that spins as he moves. This application in fact accompanies the user in his quest for his virtual tour of he planet.

Google Earth, the virtual globe programme created by Keyhole, Inc and later on acquired by Google in 2004, maps the earth by the superimposition of images obtained from satellite imagery, aerial photography and GIS 3D globe.

With the iPhone version now launched, it adds to the range of operating systems it is now being used. The programme is currently available on personal computers, which runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above, Linux, and FreeBSD. It is also available as a browser plug-in for Firefox, Internet Explorer 6, or Internet Explorer 7. Google has also added the imagery from the Earth database to their web based mapping software.
