Idea Cellular has entered into a non-financial deal with Taiwan’s HTC Corp to launch two new touch-screen mobile phone models in India, HTC Touch Pro T7276 and HTC Touch Viva T2223.
The HTC Touch Pro will cost Rs 34,900 and the HTC Viva will be priced at Rs 16,490, and will be available at all HTC authorised resellers across the country.
Idea Cellular, chief marketing officer, Pradeep Srivastava, has said that the market for high-end smartphones is around 15 per cent of the total market size.
He further added that the tie-up between Idea Cellular and HTC was not mutually exclusive.
HTC Touch Pro T7276 provides touch-screen navigation and has a full QUERTY keyboard for text entry.
The two phones are based on Windows mobile 6.1 platform. HTC Touch Pro T7276 has a slide-out, five-row QWERTY keyboard layout that enables ease of using mail, working on documents, and a built-in TV-out feature allows users to prepare PowerPoint preparations.
Another feature of the HTC Touch Pro T7276 is TouchFLO 3D that aims to provide a 3D optimized touch interface that allows users to speedily make calls, write emails, get the weather detail, watch videos, or listen to music.
The HTC Touch Pro T7276 has a 2.8 VGA touch screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, 288 MB RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11b/g, GPS, 1340 mAh battery, talk time up to 8 hours, and a standby time up to two weeks.
The HTC Touch Viva T2223 has a 2D TouchFLO interface and a 2.8 display screen. Users can browse through web pages, picture albums, videos, and contacts using the touch-screen navigation.
The HTC Touch Viva T2223 has a 200 Mhz processor, 128 MB RAM, 256 MB flash storage, quadband GSM, WIFI, and a 2 megapixel camera. The HTC Touch Viva has a 1100 mAh battery, talk time upto 480 minutes, and a standby time upto 279 hours.
