HTC Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 phones unveiled

The GSMA Mobile Congress 2009 is currently on at Barcelona, and there is a bunch of cool mobile phones being unveiled by every handset manufacturer.

ts in its series of smartphones. Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 names mat not be very exciting, but the phones definitely are. HTC claims that the Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 bring a “people centric approach to mobile communication”.

The HTC Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 are both touchscreen phones that share some features between them, such as the new single view contact integration. With this feature one can regain the call history may it be messaging, voice or emails onto the in-call screen. Both Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 make use of the Push Internet Technology to speed up downloading and browsing speed. Both are HSDPA / WCDMA phones.

Finally, both devices use HTC’s latest TouchFlo 3D interface, which brings more relevant information to the forefront and includes enlarged touch focus areas to make them more touch-finger friendly. HTC claims that the latest TouchFlo 3D interface is more instinctive.

Talking about the differences between the Touch Diamond2 and the Touch Pro 2, form factor is obviously one of them. The Touch Diamond2 is the next evolution of the HTC Touch Diamond, sporting a thinner design (4.25 inches high by 2.09 inches wide by 0.54 inch thick) and larger 3.2-inch, VGA touch screen with a gravity sensor. To make the zooming feature more user-friendly there is a new touch sensitive zoom bar that allows zooming web pages, emails, photos and documents considerably easy.

Touch Diamond2 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device. HTC claims it to have 50 percent better battery life. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, 512 MB ROM/288 MB RAM with expandable memory, and a 528MHz processor.

The HTC Touch Pro2 it is more of a business-centric handset, featuring HTC’s Straight Talk Technology, which claims to improve the speakerphone quality using asymmetric speakers and advanced noise suppression with full duplex acoustics. The speakerphone will also automatically activate when you turn the Touch Pro2 phone over and place it face down on a flat service.

The HTC Touch Pro2 smartphone is equipped with a 3.6-inch WVGA (480×800) touch screen with a proximity sensor and the before-mentioned zoom bar. It also flaunts a sleek design and keeps the slide-out full QWERTY keyboard for messaging purposes.

The HTC Touch Diamond2 will be out in the markets by the second quarter of 2009 in Europe and Asia, while for the rest of the world it will be out by late 2009. As far as the Touch Pro2’s launch is concerned it will be out by summer 2009. The prices for both the cell phones are not revealed.

We in India might get to see the HTC phones by the end of 2009, we think. For now, all we can look at are these photos of both the phones here.
