HTC Corporation has launched its second Android smartphone, the HTC Hero, in India.The HTC Hero is priced at Rs 31,990 across India, and Rs 34,600 in Maharashtra.

The smartphone has a 3.2-inch touchscreen interface with a 320X480 screen with HVGA. The HTC Hero comes with an intuitive user interface called the HTC Sense, which the company will extend to all the other phones in its line-up.
The HTC Sense user interface is completely customisable.
It offers widgets that allow users to set desired content like twitter feeds, facebook updates, or email on the home screen.
Another feature of the HTC Sense is the integration of communication applications and contact information into one single view. For example, users will be able to see contact information, twitter updates, history of calls, SMS, photos, and emails of a particular contact, in one single view.
The smartphone has an angled bottom and an anti-fingerprint screen coating for a clearer display. The HTC Hero is white in color and comes with a Teflon coating that provides a durable white surface, the company claims.

Like the HTC G1, the HTC Magic, and the newly launched HTC Tattoo, the HTC Hero will feature a trackball as the control option.
The smartphone measures 112 x 56.2 x 14.35 mm (4.41 x 2.21 x 0.57 inches) and weighs 135 gms with the battery.
The HTC Hero is powered by a Qualcomm 528MHz MSM7200A processor, and comes with a RAM of 228MB and ROM of 512MB.
The HTC Hero runs on the open-source Android mobile operating system, initially developed by Google and later by the Open Handset Alliance.
Other features of the smartphone include a built-in GPS antenna, gravity-sensor, digital compass, accelerometer, 5 mega-pixel autofocus color camera and expandable MicroSD memory.
The company says that the HTC Hero will have up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds.
The HTC Hero runs on a Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate and A2DP for wireless stereo headsets and WiFi specifications of IEEE 802.11 b/g.
The HTC Hero supports MP3, AAC (AAC, AAC+, AAC-LC), AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI and Windows Media” Audio 9 audio formats.
Supported video formats include MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 and Windows Media Video 9.
The smartphone has a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1350 mAh, and talk time of up to 420 minutes for WCDMA
and 470 minutes for GSM.
Standby time is up to 750 hours for WCDMA and up to 440 hours for GSM.
The HTC Hero supports Adobe Flash that will facilitate mobile web browsing and provide easy access to Flash-based multimedia content.
The company has said that Airtel subscribers will get free data download of 100 MB per month for six months, and access to utility-based applications, such as Portfolio Manager, Hello Tune Manager, Weather Channel, Mobshare, In-mobile search and City Search.
