HP TouchSmart tm2t tablet PC starts shipping

HP has started shipping the HP TouchSmart tm2t series, its latest consumer tablet PC, which features an Intel Core Duo Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processor.The HP TouchSmart is available now at a price of $949.99, with a year’s warranty.

The TouchSmart tm2t tablet PC has a 12.1-inch diagonal, high-definition LED BrightView panel with integrated touchscreen and a full-size keyboard.

It measures 11.9×8.7×1.55 inches and weighs around 4.72 pounds with a six-cell battery.

The TouchSmart tm2t tablet comes with an exclusive software that allow users to interact with the screen by twisting it, typing, writing or drawing on it with a digital pen, and nagivating with their fingers.

It allows users to stick virtual ‘sticky notes’ and post them on their screen. The software enables users to sort share files, send emails, and upload photos to social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter and e-mail.

The TouchSmart tm2t tablet PC also offers touch games, such as DigiFish Dolphin, Tug of Words and Photo Hunt.

The tablet PC is powered by Intel Core Duo processors, SU7300 with 1.3 GHz and SU9600 with 1.6 GHz. It also has Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4550 512 MB.

Users can choose between two operating systems, the Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64-bit that also offers Windows XP.

The tablet comes with up to 8GB RAM and up to 500GB hard drive at 7200 RPM.

Other specifications include optional external optical device, 5-in-1 integrated digital media reader, HDMI out, integrated Altec Lansing stereo speakers, HP Pavilion webcam, Intel Wireless-N card, VGA, and 3 USB 2.0 ports.

The TouchSmart tm2t tablet PC also comes with an integrated HP ProtectSmart feature that detects and locks the hard drive if the laptop is dropped.

The tablet offers an advanced thermal design that keeps it cool, the company has said.
