HP Compaq 515 and Compaq 610 business laptops launched

HP has unveiled two new business laptops, that will part of its Compaq line-up, the Compaq 515 and Compaq 610.

The Compaq 515 features a 14-inch LED backlight display and will run on either AMD Athlon X2 or Turion X2 processor whereas the 15.6-inch Compaq 610 will be powered by either a Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 or dual-core Celeron.

Both the laptops have 1366 x 768 LED backlight display and has 4GB of DDR2 667MHz RAM but can support up to 8GB DDR-800 RAM. Wi-Fi, in-built web camera, mono speaker, a LightScribe DVD writer, SD card slot and VGA-output are some of the other features and interfaces that both these laptops support.

The Compaq 515 and Compaq 610 weighs 5lbs and 5.5 lbs respectively and their backup system are supported by standard six-cell batteries.

Compaq 515 comes with a 160 GB hard, which can be expanded up to 250 GB and also incorporates the integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU. It has a basic price tag of $429.

Depending on the model both these laptops will have either Windows Vista Business or Vista Home Basic as Operating System.

Compaq 610 comes with a standard 250 GB hard disk and its graphics are served by Intel GMA X3100 GPU. This one has an entry level price tag of $449.

Meanwhile, in other news, HP is planning to set up a manufacturing plant for laptops in Chongqing, in collaboration with contract manufacturer of electronic products, Foxconn International Holdings plan. The two companies will pump in $3 billion in the project.

That this will beĀ  HP’s fifth big investment in Chongquing in the past three years.

Reports say that the laptop facility will be operational in 2012, and will have an annual capacity of 20 million laptops per year, most of which will be exported to Europe.
