Podbharti, a Hindi podcast site, is launched

The pod is going desi. Two bloggers based in Maharashtra, Debashish Chakrabarty and Shashi Singh, have attempted a new podcasting site in Hindi.

Called podbharti.com, it is Debashish Chakrabarty and Shashi Singh’s site that will podcast news and views on India blogging, tools and technology,
current affairs, and entertainment.

According to a reviewer, Podbharti is a tribute to the growing strength of Indian languages on the world wide web. This comes as a sense of
empowerment, opening avenues for the spread of the Indian language. Hindi blogging seems to have come of age with the launch. In fact, Podbharti is
expected to add a new dimension to regional language blogging.

A report said that Podbharti.com has also tied up with popular English podcasting service, 'Indicast,' for sharing of ideas and content, in a bid to bring
together the best of both worlds to listeners. With lots of podcasts being done purely in French, Spanish, etc, there has been a gap when it came to an Indian language. Podbharti aims to address this issue and fill the gap.

The Apni boli, Apni baat tag says it all. Promising to breathe a whiff of fresh air, Podbharti aims to usher in a language that most of the Indian audience
is comfortable with. With a Hindi that is simple and flawless, podcasting on Podbharti is expected to be a corollary to blogging.

Podbharti, however, may have to combat a bandwidth hassle. The brains behind Podbharti.com says that they aim at reaching an audience that may
not have the best hardware available to listen to the podcast. In an attempt to make this hassle-free they are working toward crisp programming with minimal audio file sizes.
