HD-DVD – Blu-ray spat goes adult
The adult video industry throws
its weight on the side of HD-DVD.

The HD-DVD – Blu-ray spat is
boiling over to, well, the adult video
industry. Even as movies studios and
computer makers are engaged in heated
debates on who is the best, adult
video industry is likely to bare it
all in support of HD-DVD. Reports say
that they would choose HD-DVD as their
favourite format.
There are reports that Joone, founder
of the company Digital Playground and
director of extremely popular HD adult
movies, declared that his company
would from next week on be publishing
movies on HD DVD on a regular basis.
It may be recalled that last year,
Joone had expressed his company’s
support for the Blu-Ray format. He had
then said of the two formats, Blu-Ray
is the one that's more future-proofed.
However, the U-turn has happened. As
an explanation for the shift in
thinking, Joone says that he had in
fact wanted to publish his movies on
Blu-ray Disc, but that all Blu-ray
Disc copying facilities in the United
States had refused to cooperate.
Another reason why the adult industry
may embrace HD-DVD format is that
HD-DVD is cheaper to produce.
Though Blu-ray has superior quality,
HD DVD is easier to produce, cheaper
to produce and there are more HD DVD
players in homes than there are Blu-ray
players, for example in the Xbox 360,
said analysts.
Meanwhile, Wicked Pictures, one of the
leading names in the adult video
industry, has already released the
first HD DVD adult video at a trade
show in Las Vegas.
With the most modern technologies
debuting day after day, adult
producers are quick to lap them up. In
fact, they were among the first to use
the DVD on a large scale when the
format hit the market nine years ago
and are now going for high-definition
and other new formats.
