Facebook to add new tools to service29 May, 2007 Facebook, the popular social network, has shown tremendous growth. Now, the company, which is based in California, is inviting technology companies and programmers to add more features to its service. Those who participate in the services offered by Facebook can make money from the users of Facebook and at least for the time being, Facebook will not implement a cut for the services they offer. Some of the features offered by Facebook, which is the second-largest after MySpace, will allow members to recommend and listen to music, insert Amazon book reviews onto their pages, play games and join charity drives all this without leaving Facebook. The integration of new tools and techniques on Facebook is expected to provide more activities to its active 23 million users who have so far been limited to sharing photos and planning events. This move, though, is expected to make Facebook more open to spam and make its identity less clear. Facebook is headed by Mark Zuckerberg, the 23 year old CEO who hopes to make the site a "social operating system" for the Internet. Facebook, which is mainly supported by advertising, has seen its users growing to a whopping 23 million in a matter of just some months. The main competitor of Facebook still remains MySpace, which has almost 67million users worldwide.
Facebook plans to include several
music tools on the website, which will
recommend music events and local
concerts to users.
