Facebook, now, has an India centre. The social networking major has arrived in India’s Hyderabad with a new hub that will boast of online sales and operations teams.
The new Hyderabad centre will join Facebook’s global locations and is expected to strengthen services the company offers to its 400 million-plus users, advertisers and developers. The Hyderabad office is Facebook’s first Asia centre.
The initial team in Hyderabad is more likely to be a small one, which might grow as days go by. The current team has been spruced up with experts too who will have the know how on aiding users with answers to any question on Facebook. Further, a group of specialists have also been inducted into the new Hyderabad hub. These members will look after online advertising in a major way from the India office. The Hyderabad centre comes close on the heels of Facebook setting up its Austin, Texas office last week.
From Austin to Hyderabad, Facebook now looks at being a permanent presence in different time zones. The reason being said is that by doing that , it would be able to provide better around-the-clock, multilingual support, whenever and wherever users need it.
Facebook has added that the Austin and Hyderabad centres would in a way supplement the company’s support teams at its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, and at Dublin in Ireland. Earlier, FarmVille developer Zynga had established a product development center in Bangalore.
Facebook has already turned a rage in India with more than 8 million people on its network. With the social networking major aiming at pushing the limits, the number is bound to grow. It has been revealed that the growth is in such a way that 70 percent of the people using Facebook are outside the US.
As many as 70 languages form the medium of access on Facebook these days. With Facebook racing ahead of peers such as Orkut and the like, India is turning a fertile ground. The Hyderabad centre is expected to help the social networking company climb even higher in terms of India popularity.
