According to Vivendi Universal the upcoming film, Eragon, based on the best-selling novel by Christopher Paolini, will have its
own videogame. Similar to most other games based on movies, the Eragon videogame will be available for every game
consoles and PC - Amaze will handle the handheld console game version, while Stormfront will work on the Eragon game
development for PC and consoles.
Eragon was the first book in the Inheritance trilogy by Christopher Paolini. It's a fantasy book about a 16-year-old boy and his
magical dragon Saphira and their adventures. Both of the first two books, Eragon and Eldest were on the New York Times
bestseller list. The third and final book may be called Empire and is slated for a 2007 release.
"Christopher Paolini's amazing fantasy worlds, characters and adventures portrayed in Eragon offer fans of the genre an
opportunity to step into Eragon's world and live out the dragon rider legacy," said Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games.
For consoles and PC, the Eragon videogame will allow gamers to battle with a combo and magic-based combat
system that will have finishing moves, grapples, blocks, and counters. Other features of the game include dragon summoning, actual dragon
flight, and dragon dogfights.
Eragon will be a turn-based RPG with plenty of magical spell-crafting and potion, on Nintendo's Dual-Screen and GBA.
On Sony's PSP it will be an aerial combat game starring Eragon and Saphira the dragon on their epic adventure.
The film and the game will be released on December 12, 2006, no doubt eagerly awaited by movie-goers and gamers alike.
