Leading projector manufacturer Epson has announced a new projector for classrooms, called the Epson PowerLite 83V+. The low-cost projector features 2,200 lumens of light output and XGA resolution, which provides brilliant visual clarity. It has powerful audio capabilities with its built-in 10-watt speaker.
The projector is a feature-rich, easy-to-use and affordable device aimed at students, teachers and school administrators.
The Epson PowerLite 83V+ provides several advanced and convenient features for the classroom, including flexible communication.
The integrated closed captioning decoder makes presentations accessible to viewers with hearing impairments at no added cost, and help meet ADA section 508 accessibility requirements.
The 1.2x optical zoom and +/-30 degree automatic vertical keystone correction provide easy and convenient operation in multiple classroom settings.
The RS-232c control protocol allows realtime connectivity with third-party education control systems, with the audio out and monitor out features that can connect to external audio devices and monitors.
The Epson PowerLite 83V+ projector uses 3LCD technology for better image quality.
This technology requires 25% less power per lumen of brightness than DLP chip technology.
Epson’s energy-efficient E-TORL lamp lasts up to 4000 hours which lowers the overall cost.
Other specifications include an Instant On/Off switch that saves time by enabling the projector to start in only five seconds after switching on the Power button and an A/V Mute Slide that shuts off the sound and images to pause a presentation.
Users need to close the lens cover to allow the Epson PowerLite 83V+ projector to go into A/V Mute mode. The projector comes back to normal mode when the lens cover is reopened.
“As schools continue to be impacted by a tough economy and shrinking budgets, it is imperative that administrators balance cost-conscious technology buying decisions with ensuring that digital learning tools provide real benefits to both teachers and students,” said Sara Kim, associate product manager, K-12 Education Projection, Epson America.
The Epson PowerLite 83V+ projector will be available in February 2010 at a price of $649, via national resellers, pro audio/visual dealers, mail order, and distribution, and will come with a two-year limited warranty.
