The newest generation of Epson’s all-in-one home cinema video projector is all set to hit the Indian market. The 3LCD EH-DM3 projector with DVD/DivX player and virtual sound speaker system is a stylish and improved version of Epson’s EMP-TWD1 which integrated a DVD player and speakers into its body for the first time in 2005.
Affordable quality home cinema projectors are rare in India, and by pricing the EH-DM3 at Rs 49,000 Epson has offered a choice to those who were planning to buy an LCD TV – why not a home cinema projector instead? LCD TVs in India now cost even less – so for a home cinema fanatic, a projector makes even more sense than an LCD TV.
The new Epson EH-DM3 has an impressive set of specs with improved brightness (2000 ANSI lumens) and lamp life and a new HDMI input capability. Epson has introduced auto iris technology in the new model, which will enable it to optimise the projector’s contrast according to the surrounding light. It helps achieve a 3000:1 contrast ratio, which is a good deal higher that the previous one’s 300:1. This enables the projector to produce deeper blacks and brighter images.
The twin optimised reflection lamp (E-TORL) features an elliptically-shaped reflector that helps to improve energy efficiency by 20 per cent, resulting in energy savings and prolonged lamp life.
The company’s proprietary 3LCD technology offers support for 1080i HD content but tops out at 940×540. So if you want to see the 1080i HD content in its native resolution you’ll have to reply on outputting the content via the unit’s HDMI port. There is also a composite, component and RGB with an inbuilt USB port allowing one to access content from USB devices.
You can do away with the bulky VGA cable and feed images from your computer through a USB cable. With three separate LCD panels (Red, Green and Blue), the projector assures a smooth projection of image without colour breakup and visual fatigue. There is even a mic-in connection for karaoke buffs. You can share JPEG images as a slideshow from inserted USB memory devices as well.
Priced at Rs 49,900 in India, the Epson EH-DM3 home projector will be soon hit the markets.
