In an initiative to make learning in the classroom interesting and interactive, two pioneers in the education sector, Macmillan Publishers India Limited and Edurite Technologies have joined hands to offer high quality visual learning aids for schools in India.

Using Edurite’s new software DigitALLy, teachers can impart education in the classroom through a combination of text, animations, videos and images projected on the screen. The use of audio-video will capture the imagination of children and help them to understand and appreciate various topics thus making the learning experience fun and interesting, said a company source.

Edurite Technologies, the Indian arm of TutorVista, Global leaders in the field of technology enabled school education will use its patented DigitALLy, while Macmillan Publishers India with its 116 years heritage of providing high quality educational materials in India, will be reaching DigitALLy to thousands of schools, under its Macmillan SchoolSupport programe.

According to Meena Ganesh, CEO, Edurite Technologies said, “there is a great need for quality education in India but not enough means to meet this demand. Macmillan is the global leader of quality publishing. This tie-up brings together two credible industry stalwarts for the first time in the country. Macmillan with over 100 years of rich publishing experience and our technology and content expertise bringing value to education. We hope to not just see the spread of literacy but knowledge in India”.

She said that Edurite is passionate about providing children with quality education and empowering them with knowledge. “We are excited about the tie-up with Macmillan who is a pioneer in high quality publishing. We truly hope our coming together will enrich the learning process of students in this country,” she added.

Adding, Rajeev Beri, Managing Director, Macmillan Publishers India, said that “the current practices in the education system have their limitations which hurt the learning process of children. We are confident that the combination of Edurite’s technology driven learning methods and Macmillan’s proven strengths in providing top quality content and its vast presence, will optimise learning in the Indian classrooms. This venture is a part of Macmillan’s endeavour to be at the forefront of technology-enabled, enhanced school education”.

Technology and comprehensive content used in DigitALLy offers content, based on a range of syllabi of different State Boards such as Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal as well as CBSE and ICSE.

It has been pointed out that about 40 per cent of India’s population is below the age of 15, which shows the immense need for enhanced learning in the education sector. While steps are being taken by the government and the private sector to spread literacy, quality education is of great necessity.

While, Macmillan has been publishing innovative and progressive materials for schools for over 116 years in India, Edurite Technologies is one of the leaders in the field of technology enabled education and has carved a niche for itself in the education arena over the past eight years. Edurite’s core competence lies in content development supported by a strong research orientation which has helped develop quality and cutting edge content.
