Yet another web tablet, the DigitalRise X9 tablet, is now available for order in online stores. The multitouch tablet with 3G sports a 10.2-touchscreen display with 1024×600 pixel resolution, and is equipped with a 4-in-1 cam reader, 1.3 megapixel webcam, three USB ports, ethernet port, and D-Sub.

It also comes with GPS and WiFi. It’s battery provides up to four hours of operation.

The DigitalRise X9 is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor and runs the Windows 7 operating system. It comes with 2GB RAM and 160GB hard drive.

Other specifications include three USB interfaces, a card reader (SD/MS/MMC/MS-Pro), an external monitor interface, DC-in, microphone and headphones.

The DigitalRise X9 tablet measures 226x167x25mm in size and weighs about 2 kg.

The device is available for a price of $780 after a discount of $220, which will be offered till February 2010.

The web tablet seems to be the defining product of 2010 with the number of tablets showcased at CES 2010 and others that have been announced.

The tablets that are most looked forward too are, of course, Apple’s iSlate tablet and Microsoft’s Courier. The former is expected to be launched by Febrary 2010.

The Apple iSlate tablet is also expected to cost around $1000, which in itself is steep considering the other decently specced tablets that have been launched recently, such as the Joojoo and the Norton Ink Adam. Both the Joojoo and Norton Ink Adam tablets are reasonably priced, below the $500 mark.

Dell, too, announced its own tablet, the Dell Mini 5 tablet, that will run Android.

It is very likely that the entry of the big players, like Apple and Dell, and the smaller players with cost-effective products with better specs, will steal the DigitalRise X9 tablet’s thunder.
