These are the days of rumours about tablets and no one from Apple to Dell is immune. The latest rumour, and some spy photos, tell us that there is going to be an unveiling of a web tablet running Google Android 2.0 from Dell.

That would be nice. If Dell actually launches a tablet, that would be some confirmation that there really is a market for web tablets. The name doing the rounds says “Dell Streak.”

If the rumours are true, we will see the launch of the Dell STreak at CES 2010 in January.

Not much is available by way of specs for the Streak, but a 5 inch touchscreen seems pretty certain.

The recent launch of the Joojoo tablet has brought web tablets back in the spotlight. One of or favourite web tablets is the Archos 5 that runs Google Android, albeit without access to the Android App store.

Rumours about the upcoming Apple table though start at a 7 inch screen. The Joojoo tablet has a 12 inch touchscreen. At around 5 inches of size, the Dell Streak’s touchscreen would help the company launch it at a reasonable price, and if connectivity options are good enough, there is a good amount of local storage and a powerful processor, the Dell tablet has a good chance at gaining converts. All we have to do is wait for CES 2010, and keep an eye out for any more spy photos.
