Dell joins Microsoft-Novell
collaboration to provide Linux to
corporate clients
9 May, 2007
Dell, the US computer
hardware firm, has joined hands with a
collaboration Microsoft has with
Novell, to allow the use of Linux
software to work with Microsoft
Windows. This agreement makes Dell the
first systems provider to join the
Microsoft-Novell collaboration to
incorporate Linux with Windows.
The Microsoft-Novell
collaboration is mainly focused on
providing better service to its
corporate clients by using a set of
technological agreements so that the
users would be able to avail the
facilities of both Linux and
windows-based servers.
Suse Linux is the
operating system of Dell and under the
terms of the agreement, Microsoft will
buy the Suse Linux Enterprise Server
certificates from Dell.
As part of the
agreement, a services and marketing
program will be launched by Linux to
migrate existing Linux users who are
not Dell Linux customers to Suse
Linux.
