Sexy Indycar racer Danica Patrick’s superbowl commercial “enhancement” ad has won the TiVo award for the most-watched ad. TiVo, which makes digital recorders, awarded the Danica Patrick superbowl ad telecast on Sunday for being the most-watched and the most recorded & rewatched ad by doing a sample survey.

In the Superbowl ad, Danica Patrick appears as a TV anchor covering the proceedings during a court hearing. The well-endowed women in the “proceedings” have been accused of breast enhancement (!!) and the judges individually ask each of the woman: “Enhanced?” Each one giggles and protests their innocence. One of the women speaks Spanish, and the crowd has a laugh over the judge’s questions to her. Finally, the judge turns to Danica Patrick: “Have you enhanced?” And she boldly answers: “Yes I have.” And she flips out a laptop to explain how she has enhanced her image with a domain name from Godaddy.com, which she got for $1 a month. And Danica Patrick goes on to explain the benefits of the domain hosting company and how others too can benefit from it. The judges, initially shocked, later seriously nod in approval. Now, the rest of the women who have protested join the chorus, ripping open their blouses and exposing their white T-shirts with GODADDY.COM emblazoned on it! What a way to gain eyeballs!

Godaddy did a major gamble with the Danica Patrick commercial. The ad was slotted for the fag end of the game. Usually, this slot has few takers, since the game’s results are almost confirmed by then, and its time when viewers start getting up from their couches. However, this time it was a nail-biting finish for Superbowl, and viewers stayed glued to TV till the last. And what better way to get them stayed glued to screen but the raunchy ad with a racy Danica Patrick which talks of well, breast and image enhancement!

Godaddy, the Superbowl advertiser who scored big with the Danica Patrick “enhancement” ad said that it has received very good response for the commercial. The company is also prepared for the rush for domain name seekers, it said.

The Danica Patrick GoDaddy “shower ad”

26-year old Danica Sue Patrick was born on March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin. She became the Rookie of the Year in 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series. Danica won the 2008 Indy Japan 300, becoming the first female race driver to win an Indy car race.

Danica Patrick began go-karting when she was as young as 10, and has won several World Karting Association championships. The formative years of her driving career were spent in England, where she received racing training. Danica Patrick has driven for Formula Ford and Formula Vauxhall. She has won the No.2 prize in Britain’s Formula Ford Festival, the highest by a woman in the event. In 2002, Patrick started driving for Bobby Rahal in the United States. Danica Patrick was voted sexiest athlete in Victoria’s Secret “What is Sexy” list. She was also was voted No. 42 in 2006 and No. 85 in 2007 in FHM’s 100 sexiest women in the world. Danica Patrick has been known more for her off-field adventures than excellence at car racing. However, few have complained, since due to the eye-candy impact. Others like Anna Kournikova too have faced similar allegations of making up lack of talent with off-field antics.

The second Superbowl ad features Danica Patrick in a shower, and three guys watching her on TV. Danica (and the guys) start doing things beyond their control – like slapping each other, wiping other’s back etc. It becomes clear only later that Godaddy domain offers such control over things that others don’t. A little stretched, but watchable still.
