HP Compaq dc7800 ultra-slim green PC soon

Hewlett Packard (HP) India has launched the Compaq dc7800 , an environment-friendly, ultra-slim PC. The Compaq dc7800 is said to be the industry's first desktop PC incorporating a Solid State hard drive (SSD), in an ultra-slim form. The Compaq dc7800 will be available at retail outlets from May 1, 2008.

Priced at Rs 40,000, the Compaq dc7800 is aimed at business users. It has a number of environment-friendly features that meet stringent environmental requirements of the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold registry. The SSD technology provides superior performance and durability in the form of near-instant access to data and elimination of moving parts that typically cause a lot of wear and tear. The Compaq dc7800 is considered as one of the latest innovations in the field of energy-efficient, fully capable, desktops PCs. It ensures that machine does not rely much on moving parts, which are considered major causes of electro mechanical failure.

SSD allows the machine to give faster boot times and increased power efficiency. The Compaq dc7800 has the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a storage capacity of 80 GB and Integrated Intel GMA 3100 graphics card.

Faster boot times, improved power efficiency, shock improvement, and a smaller overall footprint are the other major advantages for the HP Compaq dc7800. HP claims that the Compaw dc7800 is the smallest business-ready desktop being around 46 percent smaller than its predecessors. Though its size is small, the Compaq dc700's power efficiency is 85 percent more than the other models available in the market.

HP is committed to developing products aimed at high-end business customers and give them value addition, said Arun Rao, country manager (business desktop PCs - personal systems group) of HP India, during the launch.
