An immensely capable high-capacity carrier routing system has debuted from the house of Cisco. Christened the CRS-3 Carrier Routing System, the arrival of the new router brings to us a new technology that promises to alter the way the Internet works.

We have no exact information on the price of the Cisco CSR-3 Carrier Routing System – but we hear that the price would begin at $ 90,000 for the base version, and to achieve the full output, prices would go up almost to $ 250,000.

Internet networking gets an added portfolio with the roll out of CRS-3, for sure. The Cisco CRS-3 Carrier Routing System has been positioned in such a way that it would serve as the foundation of the next-generation Internet, thereby providing all it needs to boost the speed at which video transmission, mobile devices and new online services would take off. It has been revealed by Cisco that with more than 12 times the traffic capacity of the nearest competing system, the Cisco CRS-3 will transform the broadband communication and entertainment industry manifold.

The high capacity router, in fact, comes with capabilities that would magnify three times the capacity of Cisco’s CRS-1 router that came to us a while back. The throughput that the CRS-3 Carrier Routing System returns has been put at an amazing 322 terabits per second. Such speed would mean that it would be capable of delivering video beyond a hitherto unheard of pace. Cloud computing is another area it would support.

The router that had been in the worst ever since the past five years, comes as a result of some smart technology coupled with an investment of a billion dollars for growth from CRS-1 to CRS-3.

Cisco claims the ever growing use of online video and other high-bandwidth tools and applications would make the router’s 322-terabit capacity a necessary part of IT infrastructure. We expect that to happen. With the CRS-3 Carrier Routing System offering three times the capacity of Cisco’s CRS-1, the router with its 322-terabit-per-second capacity could enable any movie enthusiast in any part of the world to download their favorite flick movie in just four minutes. That brings us to what Hollywood foresees in the future. The CRS-3 could be seen as a network routing system that trigger unpleasant thoughts in the minds of people in tinsel town. With Cisco unveiling a super highway for Internet data traffic Hollywood producers may not share consumers’ excitement.
