Casio has announced the launch of two new entry models of its compact digital cameras, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 and Exilim Zoom EX-Z90. The Casio EX-450 and EX-Z90 will feature a novel auto focus mechanism called the Intelligent AF. This technology adds the automatic detection of objects and pets to the already existing face detection technology.
That means that the camera can auto focus and adjust the exposure even while capturing the picture of a non-human object.
Both the cameras also feature 1280 x 720 video recording, together with the ability to make Motion JPEG animations complete in-camera from an array of sequential images.
Casio has also upgraded its Dynamic Photo function. In earlier versions of this technology the user could separate a moving subject with its background, but to do so the user would need to capture two images; one with the subject and another without.
In the upgraded version, only one image of the subject is required, though the background should be single colored.

This camera features a 12.1 megapixel sensor with Casio’s Exilim Engine 4.0 image processor. The other features include sensor-shift image stabilization, a 28mm wide angle 4x optical zoom lens, and a slightly larger 3.0 inch LCD.
The camera can also shoot high-speed burst pictures at up to 10 fps, but, of course, at a reduced resolution.
The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 has an ISO range of 64 to 3200. The camera will be available in five colors, gold, pink, red, silver and brown.

It features a 3x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 35-105mm) and a 2.7 inch LCD with 230K resolution.
The camera has an ISO range of 64 to 1600.
“Casio continues to create cameras that come equipped with high-powered, cutting -edge technologies such as the new Intelligent AF feature and improved Dynamic Photo function which creates a whole new picture taking and sharing experience for users,” says Toshiyuki Iguchi, Senior General Manager of Casio’s Digital Imaging Division at Casio America, Inc.
He further added that the two new cameras demonstrate Casio’s commitment to producing quality digital cameras that can be utilized by novice users and professional photographers.
Both the cameras are expected to be launched in early October 2009. The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 and Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z90 will be available at a price starting from $199.99 and $149.99, respectively.
In March 2009, Casio had launched the Casio Exilim Zoom EX-FH20 in India at a price of Rs. 44,995, a few months after its launch in the US, at a price of $713.
It is likely that Casio will launch the entry-level Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 and Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z90, in India, at a much more affordable price point.
