Canon has just released four new Powershot cameras at CES 2011: Powershot A3300 IS, Powershot A2200, Powershot A1200, and Powershot A800.
And that includes the first-ever Powershot that costs less than $100. Canon’s Powershot A800 will cost only $89. The top-of-the-line Canon Powershot A3300 IS costs $179 and comes with a 16 megapixel sensor that can shoot video in HD (720p). It has 5X optical zoom and a discrete mode that lets you turn off all sound should you want. Related: Top Canon digital cameras in India
Just below A3300 is Canon’s Powershot A2200 at $139. It is quite similar to its more expensive sibling but comes with a 14 megapixel sensor and 4x optical zoom.
The even cheaper Powershot A1200 at $109 drop the megapixel count to 12.1 and does away with discrete function. While A3300 has a 3-inch LCD screen, the other two – Canon Powershot A2200 and Powershot A1200 – come with slightly smaller 2.7-inch screen.
The cheapest-ever Canon Powershot A800 has a 10 megapixel sensor and a 2.5-inch screen. But its video recording capabilities are rather modest since it can shoot video in VGA only. But with a tag of $89, that shouldn’t be a reason to complain.
Now that these new Powershots have made it to CES 2011, we can’t wait to see them in India. Canon Powershot A800 at less than Rs 4,000 price point! Watch this space for India launch.
