Canon unveiled a new inkjet printer, the Canon PIXMA i4820, today. This printer’s most attractive feature is its ability to
print still images from high definition videos. This means that high quality images can be extracted from videos made using a compatible HD Canon hand camera such as EOS, or even the Canon PowerShot camera.
The Canon PIXMA i4820 inkjet printer has an improved photo fixing technology called Auto Photo Fix II, and using its Easy-PhotoPrint EX software, the PIXMA i4820 inkjet printer can also be connected to the net to search and print images from Flickr, the photo and video sharing website.
The PIXMA i4820 inkjet printer includes what Canon calls Easy-WebPrint EX software, which works only via Windows and using a Fit-to-One-Page button, can print texts and images from websites. This button is particularly useful when one wants a lot of information on one page, such as driving directions and food recipes. It also leads to paper and ink conservation since web pages often have extra matter that is not useful. Further, to save paper and time, the PIXMA inkjet has an Auto Duplex feature that allows two-way paper feeds.
Canon’s i4820 printer allows users to print multiple documents in booklet form. The layout of the booklet is customizable so that it is easy to use for different purposes.
The PIXMA inkjet produces images with no borders, 4X6 inches large, at resolutions of up to 9600 x 2400 dpi in about 20 seconds. This is made possible by five ink tanks working simultaneously. Canon’s inking system is called ChromaLife100+.
The Canon PIXMA i4820 inkjet printer costs about $99.99, or approximately Rs 4,700.
