Canon EOS 7D DSLR, the latest digital camera from Canon is here. The Canon EOS 7D DSLR has a hefty 18 megapixels to its credit, powered by the dual DIGIC image processor. The Canon EOS 7D DSLR digital camera can shoot up to 8 images per second, Canon claimed.
Canon said that the new EOS 7D Digital SLR camera will be delivered to US dealers at the end of September. The body-only configuration will come at a price of $1,699.00. Canon will also sell in a kit version with Canon’s EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens at price of $1,899.00. Clearly, its not a cheap camera. The Canon WFT-E5A wireless file transmitter for the camera will sell at an estimated price of $699.99.
The Canon EOS 7D DSLR has a totally fresh 19-point Autofocus system. Canon said in a press release that this is the most advanced auto-focusing system on an EOS digital camera so far. This system has a multi-axis cross-type 19-point AF grid. The focusing points on the grid are evenly across the image plane. They are clearly visible through what Canon calls its Intelligent Viewfinder.
The nineteen points have a sensitivity of f/5.6 for vertical and horizontal cross-type focusing, Canon said. The auto focus point at the centre is expected to add precise diagonal cross-type sensitivity for f/2.8 and lenses with bigger apertures. The focusing points are fully functional even with lens apertures as small as f/5.6, Canon said. These enhance the performance of the autofocus system on the Canon EOS 7D DSLR system for fast sports action as well as photography in poor lighting.
Canon said that the new Canon EOS 7D DSLR has a new iFCL Metering System. IFCL stands for Intelligent Focus, Color, Luminance. There is
a new “Intelligent Viewfinder” too. The image sensor on the Canon EOS 7D DSLR is an 18-megapixel Canon CMOS. The processor is a Dual DIGIC 4
Imaging Processor. The Canon EOS 7D DSLR has 14-bit analog/digital data conversion. This, Canon said, enables its capability to freeze fast motion in high-resolution with continuous shooting in eight frames per second up to 126 Large JPEGS. The Canon EOS 7D DSLR has an ISO speed range from 100-6400, said the company. The ISO speed on the Canon EOS 7D DSLR is expandable to 12,800.
Said Yuichi Ishizuka, Canon USA’s senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group: “The EOS 7D represents a completely
new chapter in digital photography and Canon product development. This camera stands alone as the most functional and innovative DSLR Canon
has released to-date, bringing together all of the best professional features offered, along with numerous user requests at a price-point
everyone can appreciate.”
The new Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera can also boasts great video-shooting and recording capabilities. It can capture 1920 x 1080
resolution videos with frame rates – which can be selected from 24p, 25p or 30p. Canon said that its ative 24p video recording helps videographers achieve cinema-style look for their footage.
The Canon EOS 7D DSLR will come at a price of $1699 in the US. In India and Europe, it may cost more.
