Canon has announced the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera, the latest addition to its EOS 1D series of cameras.The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera will be available at a price of $4,999.00 at all US dealerships, in December 2009. The camera has been priced $200 less than the price of the Nikon D3S DSLR camera that will be launched in November 2009.

The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera comes with a monstrous 16-MP Canon CMOS sensor. The ISO speed settings of the camera range from 100 up to 12,800 in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments.
The camera features Dual DIGIC 4 Imaging Processors, 14-bit A/D data conversion, and enables users to shoot 10 frames per second.
This new camera also features 1080p Full High-Definition video capture at selectable frame rates and full manual exposure control.

The settings are expandable to L: 50 for bright light or H1: 25,600, H2: 51,200, and H3: 102,400 for low light, pretty much the same as the Nikon D3S DSLR.

The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV DSLR offers three video recording resolutions, and awesome 1080p Full HD and 720p HD in a 16:9 aspect ratio and Standard Definition (SD) in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Canon’s EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR features a new autofocus system that offers 45 AF points that include 39 high-precision cross-type focusing points. These enables photographers to track fast moving athletes or wildlife accurately, Canon has said.
Another feature of the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR is its Peripheral Illumination Correction function that claims to corrects darkening in the corners of images.
The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera features a new Auto Lighting Optimizer (ALO) system that is said to adjust brightness and contrast of photos in-camera, that reduces the need for post-production work on photos.
Canon has also bundled a WFT-E2 II A wireless file transmitter with the camera, that offers connectivity options like IEEE802.11a/b/g , geotagging of images, and linking to up to ten cameras.
