Buffalo launches Wi-Fi Gamers

Buffalo Incorporated has launched Buffalo Wi-Fi Gamers (WCA-G), a gaming-centric device that supports gaming consoles such as Nintendo’s Wii, DS, DS Lite, Sony PSP, and Sony Playstation3. The device allows users to connect to internet without using the PC.

The AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) from Buffalo gives instant access to the internet and also stores security settings.

In a statement, Morikazu Sano, senior vice-president, global sales and marketing, Buffalo Incorporated, said, “We wanted to give a wireless gaming experience to the users with the high-performance abilities. Users need not take manual steps for establishing a secure wireless connection and it does save the security key for you after the first entry, so that users can just start their game.”

The company hopes to give a wireless gaming experience to the users with the high performance abilities through the new device. The WCA-G is as small as a playing card box, which provides portability, the website commented in its review.

According to the company, the device plugs into an available port on an existing local area network (LAN). Once hooked up, users can connect the device to the internet in few easy steps.

After pressing the corresponding AirStation One-Touch Secure System button on the Wi-Fi Gamers and gaming console screen, gamers can play online games. The device also manages the different levels of support security among different gaming consoles, the company added.

An embedded liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor shows current setup status, the status of AirStation One-Touch Secure System, wireless network and connection status.

Other features of the Buffalo Wi-Fi Gamers include wireless channel display, auto channel selection, manually change wireless channel, show connected devices, and a firmware upgrade.

In India, Buffalo's Wi-Fi Gamers will be available by the end of November 2007 for Rs 2,400 through retailers, online resellers, and on its website. The system carries a limited, two-year warranty.
