BSNL revises ‘Pay Per Second’ plan for prepaid customers

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNL) has revised its “Pay Per Second” (PPS) plan for general prepaid and Saral Anant customers.

Under the new plan, BSNL will offer flat 1p/sec outgoing calls from a BSNL mobile to all networks across India.

Previously, mobile services were available at a cost of 1 paise per second for local calls and STD calls within the BSNL network. Calls to networks other than BSNL were charged at 1.2 paise per second. Read more about earlier PPS plan from BSNL

India’s first 3G service provider, BSNL, is offering a 1-year validity on the new PPS scheme, which its old customers can activate by SMS based STV-49 recharge.

New customers can avail this offer by sending an SMS saying ACT 1S to 53733. Rs. 49 would be deducted from your prepaid mobile balance and the “Pay Per Second” plan would be activated. Similarly, at any point you can send DEACT 1S for deactivation of this service.

Please note that this plan covers all outgoing local and STD calls from a BSNL phone to all networks across India. All other calls, such as, ISD, video calls, etc., would be charged as per normal plans.

Other offers by BSNL

BSNL has also launched other promotional offers for its GSM prepaid and postpaid customers.

Under the new offer, BSNL GSM Fixed Wireless Phone (FWP) will cost Rs. 1,450 (earlier it was Rs. 2,100) and would include free usage worth Rs. 150 per month for the period of one year (total worth Rs. 1,800 in a year). Also see: BSNL offers super speed 3G, slashes tariffs

The talk value can be used to make calls to any BSNL phone (Local/STD) anywhere in India. BSNL’s GSM FWP customer can select their tariff plans from FRC60, FRC44 and FRC37 for a choice between Pay Per minute and Pay Per Second offers.

In yet another initiative, BSNL has announced promotional offers for its postpaid and prepaid broadband users also. BSNL will provide unlimted downloads at 2Mbps to its customers who will register for a new broadband connections before March 31, 2011. Related: BSNL revises broadband plans

For prepaid customers, volume-based broadband recharges have been revised. Now, BSNL prepaid customers gets extra free data usage and validity on vouchers starting from Rs. 250 to Rs. 3,000. Read more about these voucher details here
