BPL Mobile Communications has changed its name to Loop Mobile. BPL Mobile Communications’ brand-use agreement with the TPG Nambiar-owned BPL Group has expired leading to the rechristening of its name.“Loop is an extension of an ongoing campaign, ‘Get in the Loop’, and it will be easy for our subscribers to identify with this new brand name. The new name signifies a vibrant company and appeals to the youth of the country,” said BPL Mobile Director and CEO Sanjeev Chachondia.
“With colours like green, purple, pink and blue contributing to the new three dimensional logo, the logo signifies youthful vitality, excitement and freshness. Confirming this, head – brand and communications Arif Ali remarked,”Loop Mobile will mirror and reflect the sensibilities of a brand conceptualized in the 21st century,” he said
The company is soon to launch a campaign for the new breand identity Loop Mobile comprising outdoor, print, radio, digital, activation and consumer touch points from SMS to call centre prompts, created by McCann-Erickson.
However the company currently is facing an ownership dispute and is being managed by the Ruias of the Essar group pending resolution with Vodafone Essar. BPL Mobile’s subsidiary Loop Telecom managed to get the license to offer telecom services in 21 circles of India. The two will now be operating individually as separate independent legal entities.
Since October 1995 BPL Mobile Communications has been catering to a huge number of Mumbaikars. and has more than 2.1 million subscribers
all over the country. BPL Mobile Communications is also the country’s oldest mobile telecom service provider.
