Reliance Mobile is set to launch BlackBerry Tour in India. Reliance Mobile today announced that it will soon bring the BlackBerry Tour 9630 World Phone to India. The company has also announced a pre-booking offer for BlackBerry Tour. Reliance will sell the new BlackBerry smartphone at a price of Rs 27,990.
BlackBerry Tour is one of the latest smartphones from Research in Motion, the Canadian handset manufacturer. BlackBerry Tour has a 35-key QWERTY physical keyboard with backlighting. It has a trackball, flanked by the menu key on the left and escape key on the right. The BlackBerry Tour is outfitted with a 3.2 megapixel camera, which can shoot still photos and videos with zoom and image stabilisation capabilities. The BlackBerry Tour has a half-VGA+ screen, which is clear and sharp, displaying over 65,000 colors.The Tour has built-in GPS and location-finding software, so you will be able to geo-tag the pictures and videos on the go.
Reliance Mobile said in a press release that the company is coming out with a pre-booking offer. The offer is open for two weeks. Starting tomorrow (October 7, 2009), you can pre-book the BlackBerry Tour from Reliance Mobile, and get free BlackBerry Internet Service access worth Rs 200 for two months. Reliance Mobile plans to launch the BlackBerry Mobile on October 12 nationally.
The 3G phone BlackBerry Tour is a world phone, with dual band CDMA and quad-band GSM/GPRS. This means that you should be able to travel to another country with a different network and still continue to use your phone seamlessly on the new network. In India, Reliance Mobile is launching the BlackBerry Tour on its CDMA network.
The BlackBerry Tour sports a battery with 5 hours of talktime and upto 14 days of standby time. As in every other BlackBerry, it offers wireless email and phone facilities, besides an organiser, instant messenger, browser and corporate data access. The BlackBerry Tour also has an integrated speaker and headphone, and comes with Bluetooth. The Tour doesnt have WiFi connectivity.
The BlackBerry Tour has 256 MB onboard memory, which can be expanded with a memory card. The media player on the BlackBerry Tour can handles a slew of audio and video formats, including WMV and MPEG. Though the Tour comes preloaded with BlackBerry Maps, check with Reliance if you will be able to location-find with it. If you cannot use BlackBerry Maps, you can still install free applications like Google Maps or purchase map data and software from independent vendors. The BlackBerry Tour also supports the BlackBerry App World – however, it is not available for Indian users yet

Reliance Mobile already offers a range of BlackBerrys on its mobile network. These include the BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Pearl 8130, BlackBerry 8703 and BlackBerry 8830 for its CDMA network, as well as the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and BlackBerry Pearl 8110 for its GSM network.
