BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone launched in India

Airtel along with Research in Motion announced the launch of its Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 in India, on January 6, 2008.

The Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 will be priced at Rs 21,990.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 is 3.98″ in length, 1.97″ in width, and 0.69 inches in depth. The smartphone weighs around 102 grams.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 comes with wireless email, organizer, and browser.

E-mail and text messaging features provide personal e-mail access and mailbox synchronisation with popular email accounts like Hotmail, Gmail, AOL mail, and Yahoo Mail.

Users of the BlackBerry Pearl Flop 8220 can also send Voice Notes, as multimedia messages, instead of emails.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 browser provides online shopping with BlackBerry Wallet and fresh updates from sites that the user follows regularly.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 organizer features include a Calendar, Address Book, Task list, MemoPad, and a Calculator.

The smartphone also comes with the BlackBerry Maps feature that enables users to view maps and get directions is the form of visual routes and step-by-step directions.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 has a built-in speakerphone that enables hands-free dialing. The phone also has Voice Activated Dialing, which can provide hands-free dialing when used with the speakerphone or Bluetooth headset. The phone is 3.5mm stereo headset capable and has an integrated microphone.

Display features include user selectable font sizes, Trackball, SureType QUERTY keyboard, light sensing screen, and keyboard backlighting. The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 internal 2.4-inch display has a 240 x 320 pixel color Transmissive TFT LCD, and supports 65000 colors. The external display has a high resolution 128 x 160 pixel color Transmissive TFT LCD.

The standby time of the BlackBerry Flip 8220 is 14 days and Talk time is 4 hours. The phone has an expandable memory  and 128MB flash memory. The smartphone comes with a 1GB microSD card.

The BlackBerry Flip 8220 comes with a media player that can be turned sideways to view videos in wide screen, a camera, video recording facility, video streaming, Wi-Fi, and a large screen for mobile gaming.
