Reports say that Research In Motion is also planning a GSM version of the BlackBerry Niagara 9630. Niagara, earlier called Blackberry javelin.
Like the BlackBerry Niagara 9630, the BlackBerry Javelin will also look like a cross between the BlackBerry Curve and the BlackBerry Bold.
Experts believe that the BlackBerry Niagara 9630 will have to face competition from two other smartphones set to be launched later in 2009, the new Apple iphone and Palm’s Pre phone. Palm and Sprint have partnered to launch the Palm Pre in 2009.
In 2008, Apple iPhone 3G, the Google Android T-Mobile G1, and the BlackBerry Storm competed with each other for the top spot. Now with Palm Pre, Apple iPhone and BlackBerry Niagara 9630 available for purchase at the same time, the competition will be similarly intense.
The BlackBerry Niagara 9630 may prove to be good for Verizon, whos sales haven’t been the best for quite some time now. The availability of theBlackBerry Niagara 9630 at Verizon should boost sales.
The BlackBerry Niagara 9630 will also help RIM consolidate its international phone line-up.
