Research In Motion has launched the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 3G smartphone in India, on January 28, 2010.The smartphone that has been priced at Rs 32,000 will be available throughout India via retailers and BlackBerry’s Indian carriers including Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Loop Mobile, MTNL, Reliance, Tata and Vodafone.
The sleek BlackBerry Bold 9700 3G smartphone comes with a dark chrome frame and leatherette back.

The phone has dimensions of 109 mm x 60 mm x 14.1 mm and weighs only 122 grams with battery.
The 2.44-inch TFT LCD screen has a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. There is a full QWERTY keyboard and touch-sensitive trackpad for navigation. Users can move their fingers over the trackpad to explore menus and then press and click to select an item.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has a 3.2-mega pixel camera with flash, auto focus, and 2X digital zoom and video camera recording in normal mode (480 x 352 pixels) and MMS Mode (176 x 144 pixels).

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 runs the new BlackBerry operating system 5.0 found in the BlackBerry Storm, that the company claims offers email management, calendar enhancements, and faster JavaScript and CSS processing.
The BlackBerry Desktop Manager of the phone is compatible with PCs and Mac to enable synching of data between a computer and the smartphone.
Connectivity features of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 include integrated WiFi at 802.11 b/g and and support for Wi-Fi calling via UMA at available hot spots.
The 3G phone works on UMTS at 2100/1900/850/800 MHz quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM, and UMTS/HSDPA 2100/1700/900 MHz and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700, like the original Bold, offers integrated GPS with A-GPS for maps and access to BlackBerry Maps.
The smartphone comes with 256 MB integrated memory, 2GB card and a microSD/SDHD memory card slot that supports up to 16 GB cards, and is expected to support 32 GB cards when available. A 2GB card in included.
It offers support for DivX 4, DivX 5/6 partially supported, XviD partially supported, H.263, H.264, WMV3, MPEG4, Sorenson Spark & On2 VP6 (Flash support) video formats and .3gp, MP3, WMA9 (.wma/.asf), WMA9 Pro / WMA 10, MIDI, AMR-NB, Professional AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ audio formats.
Other specifications include Bluetooth v 2.1, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, dedicated volume controls, Lock and Mute keys, access to BlackBerry App World that offers apps developed specifically for BlackBerry smartphones.
