Reliance Communications’ newly-launched digital Direct-To-Home service Big TV will be offering a DTH connection with three months subscription for Rs 700 through a special tie-up with leading television manufacturer LG Electronics.
Big TV’s offer with LG Electronics would enable buyers of LG 29” television sets to a BIG TV connection and a 3-month subscription to either the BIG TV Lite Pack, which includes 61 channels + one regional channel pack in non-south states, and the BG TV South Delight Pack, that includes 99 channels + 1 regional channel pack in southern states, at a price of Rs 700. Meanwhile, LG Electronics will offer as many as 14 models for buyers to choose from under the terms of the offer.
A Big TV official said that the South Delight Pack which comprises of 99 channels includes popular channels like Star Plus, Sony, Star Gold, Discovery, Star Movies and highly viewed news channels like Headlines Today, Times Now, Star News, IBN 7; CNBC, CNN IBN, Malayalam language channels like Manorama News, Amrita TV, Asianet News, Asianet Plus, DD4 Malayalam, Surya TV, Isaiyaruvi; Kids Channels like Disney Channel, Jetix, Nickelodeon; Sports Channels like Ten Sports, DD Sports, apart from a host of other regional language channels. The company is already offering various regional packs at Rs 30 each and top-up packs like News Plus, English Movie Plus, Hindi Movie Plus, Kids Plus, Sports Plus and Elite Plus ranging between Rs 25 and Rs 40 per pack per month.
The official said that Big TV, which was launched this August, has already emerged as the fastest growing DTH service in India by clocking 5,00,000 subscribers in about 50 days. With the southern markets already boasting of a popular destination for Big TV, the company seems to be focusing more on the region for speedy growth.
