Apple iSlate web tablet specifications leaked

New information about the specifications of the rumored Apple web tablet, the Apple iSlate, has been leaked on the internet.phone arena has carried images of internal Apple documents that list the specifications of the Apple iSlate.

As per the leaked specs, the Apple iSlate will be housed in a precision aluminum unibody, and will have a 7.1-inch multitouch display with intelligent feedback and oleophobic fingerprint-resistant coating.

The Apple iSlate web tablet will be powered by a 2.26-GHz Core 2 Duo processor and will run the Mac OS X 10.7 Clouded Leopard platform.

The Mac OS X Leopard platform offers a new user interface, widget-based homscreen, and support for built-in Microsoft Exchange Server. According to the leaked document, the Mac OS X Leopard platform also allows users to browse and download applications from the App Store.

There will be 2GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM and 120GB Serial ATA hard drive.

The Apple iSlate will come with integrated iSight camera, projector, stereo speakers, and omnidirectional microphone.

Connectivity features include Built-in Airport Extreme Wi-Fi with specifications of 802.11n, integrated Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and two USB 2.0 ports. The Apple iSlate also offers an optional external USB iSlate SuperDrive.

According to reports in late December 2009, the Apple iSlate will be launched on January 26, 2010. There is speculation that the Apple iSlate web tablet will be priced around $ 1000, which may be a tad too high considering the prices of the web tablets launched so far.

The recently launched Joojoo tablet, by Fusion Garage, is available at a price of $499. This web tablet comes with a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, 4GB SSD drive, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, built-in speakers, one USB port, accelerometer and ambient light sensor.

Despite a roster of impressive features, the Fusion Garage JooJoo has received mixed reviews. It has also been cast in the shade with the announcement of the Notion Ink Adam web tablet that comes with exciting specifications at an attractive price of $320 thereabouts.

The Notion Ink Adam looks great and is powered by the fast NVIDIA’s Tegra T20 processor. It will run the Google Android operating system and UI. A standout feature of the Adam is the Pixel Qi transreflective display screen that will offer fully saturated color and high video rate update.

It will come with a 3-mega pixel camera as compared to the 1.3-megapixel offered by the JooJoo, and 16GB/32GB Storage compared to 4GB SSD offered by the JoJoo.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is also said to be working on a multitouch dual-screen tablet of its own, the Microsoft Courier, that is also expected to be launched in early 2010.
