New improved Truveo from AOL
22 August, 2007
The all-new Truveo.com has been
unveiled by AOL in an effort to let
consumers find a range of videos from
across the web. The new site, based on
the Truveo video search technology
that AOL acquired in 2006, is
currently available beginning today at
www.truveo.com.
The videos range from user-generated
video clips, to professionally
produced videos from leading media
brands. On the new improved Truveo.com,
consumers can search and browse
through videos from sources across the
internet. Besides, Truveo.com
facilitates video-specific algorithms
to help users search and find the
video they want.
According to the report, Truveo’s
search results are organized by
category and by source so that users
can choose the video they want from
the large number of videos that may
match their query. Providing a
browse-and-discover experience, Truveo
users can also browse video by a
particular category and find videos
that are available for free and those
on sale. Users can also survey the
Web’s most popular videos as well as
peruse popular TV shows, popular video
sites (called channels), and favorite
videos selected by other users.
Making it an improved feature, AOL has
made Truveo very user-friendly so that
any consumer can save and share links
to favorite videos, receive
personalized video recommendations
based on their preferences, configure
custom video searches that can be
placed into RSS readers and
personalized Web pages, access a set
of open APIs, and submit their own
video into the Truveo search engine.
